About This Course
Welcome! This seminar is the second part of the "Media Research & Audience Intelligence" module. Building upon foundational knowledge, this course takes a hands-on, project-based approach. Over the semester, you will work in small groups to design, conduct, and present your own empirical research project from start to finish.
We will cover the entire research process: from formulating a relevant research question and grounding it in theory, to developing a research design, collecting and analyzing data, and finally, presenting and documenting your findings in a scientific manner. The course serves as a practical preparation for conducting research, particularly for your upcoming Bachelor's thesis.
Please Note:
This semester there is compulsory attendance (Anwesenheitspflicht). You may miss the class 2 times without the need for a medical certificate (Attest). If you know you'll miss the class, please write me an E-Mail. If you bring a medical certificate you will not loose a "free shot". This means you can still miss class 2 times without the need for a medical certificate.
Deliverables & Grading
Your final grade for this module is composed of two parts:
- Final Report (70%): A scientific paper of approximately 15-20 pages documenting
your group's research project. This includes the theoretical background, methodology, results, and
discussion.
Deadline: 15. March 2026 - Final Presentation (30%): A group presentation of your research project, covering all its essential stages and findings. The presentations will take place during the last two sessions of the semester.
All deliverables are to be completed in groups of 3-4 students.
